Better Travel

The implicit and explicit motivations, contexts, and conditions that influence travelers in unplanned travel experiences.

Whether travelers wanted to or were sometimes required to, our team recognized that there was an inherent level of hesitancy that arose when travelers are presented with an option to deviate from their original plans.

So, how might we encourage travelers who already have a travel plan in place, to embark on experiences that they did not originally account for?

Our proposal is a comprehensive travel planning platform, integrated into Google Calendar, that takes user preferences and group consensus to prompt unplanned but delightful travel experiences.

"Group Dynamics" and the "Willingness to Embrace Uncertainty" greatly shaped our project.

Embracing Uncertainty

The Project from a Risk Perspective

This project presented an opportunity for our team to try a new framework for approaching design research - “The Uncertainty Model”. We are ultimately still using the same methods, but this model helps us think about what we want to uncover in relation to how much time and effort the method will take.
